As its name indicates, in this type of garnishment an individual’s employer is required to garnish the individual’s wages. Effective March 30, 2020, and until further notice, the Judicial Branch’s Support Enforcement Services (SES) offices are closing statewide due to the COVID-19 crisis. The MN Unemployment Insurance Program Compliance Unit has issued temporary Wage Garnishment releases. The agency will notify employers when to begin withholding again. ADP had previously completed Iowa creditor garnishments to reduce the volume of returned payments. Now that the garnishment stay, previously in effect from 4/27 – 5/27, has expired, ADP will restart Iowa garnishments and resume collection. On March 18, 2020, the state of Georgia issued a state of emergency order prohibiting the filing of new writ of garnishments.
